In Shape for Summer

I'm glad I got out for a hike this weekend because today was rainy and blah. Not all day, but for the part of it that I needed to be out and about. I made it to the gym for a bit and when I say a bit, I really mean it. I was in and out of there in less than an hour. Just changing in and out of my workout clothes probably took 10 or 15 minutes. I'm trying to get back into the routine of going, so on days (like today) where I really don't feel like working out at all, I don't mind taking it easy as long as I do SOMETHING.

I don't want to lose weight as much as I want to get in really good shape for playing tennis this summer. Since tennis is a sport that I can realistically play for the rest of my life, I want to get good at it. Golf too, for that matter, though that seems to require far less physical conditioning - just a lot of practice.

I would still like to play soccer if I could find a team I fit with. I played soccer (indoor and outdoor) for so many years and I do miss the team aspect, just not as much as I enjoy the personal challenge of pushing my own limits. I can't blame the ref if I miss a putt and I can't blame the goalie if I can't serve.

I like that.

  • I wouldn't mind losing a bit off my hips, but if I actually *try* to lose weight it all goes off my upper body instead. My face gets too skinny and my ribs stick out and my back looks all boney.

I'll take the happy, lazy medium of eating whatever I want & having a little extra on my bum. :)
