The Saucy Seamstress

Kris Quilting

I've been sewing up a storm this week trying to get not one, but two (!) quilts finished and popped in the mail in time for Christmas.

I don't know what happened to me this year. I've been trying new things and tackling projects that I normally would think about doing, say how much I'd really love to learn how to do, but never get around to actually doing.

Ta da!Finishing those quilts was a huge accomplishment for me. The perseverance to stick with it and finish them under the stress of the post office deadline was feat enough, but being able to ship them to my family flaws and all? Not perfect? That's HUGE for me.

I made soooo many mistakes. Quilting is really difficult if you're fairly new to sewing and just winging it. I'm sure if I took some classes or had someone to teach me I'd know all the little tricks to keeping my stitches straight or to catching the bobbin before it runs out (rather than after you've sewed 12 more inches doing nothing but making holes in the fabric). I've been learning by making mistakes.

The second quilt

And through the tears of frustration, I learned to let go and just seal it with a kiss, knowing I did the best I could. The next one will be better (I hope). But this one? It's OK too.All wrapped up!

  • i hope you realize , as your recipience will , its not the quilt they will cherish , is all the hard work you put into it just for them, it show how much they mean to you.
