West Coast Fever
I got walloped by the worst cold I've ever had this weekend. It sounds like a euphemism for bad hangover, but I actually was being very responsible and stayed in all weekend to finish up a project I was working on. If I had some kind of cellular web cam I think you would've been able to see my white blood cells being attacked because I felt fine at 8 pm and by midnight I was sick. Not just "I think I feel a cold coming on", but full on feverish, coughing, stuffy nose sick.
I've been staggering around like a freakin' zombie since then and it is somehow getting worse instead of better. The dogs have been cooped up for days, so they guilted me into dragging my butt to the park with them this afternoon. It ended up being quite a lovely day as I laid out on the grass in my blue hooded sweatshirt and thick courderoy pants, blowing my nose as I watched all the healthy, shiny people jogging by in t-shirts. Just a few days ago I was one of them! I was all tanned and toe rings, not mouth breathing and Kleenex. How did this happen?
I'm generally pretty healthy, but since moving out to the west coast I've gotten sick twice and they've both been really nasty bugs. What's going on? Is this some kind of ocean lifestyle hazing I have to go through? Do I need to build up my immune system to fight off the crazy Asian flus that float through the moist moist air our here? Is it too much sushi?
Whatever it is, just let me know so I can stop angering that thing in the back of my throat that I'm usually blissfully unaware that I even have, which has now grown to the size of a Volkswagen. Thanks.

Hey Kris,
Maybe you need to move in-land; back to Edmonton perhaps.
It has not snowed here for at least a month!

Yep, you're paying your penance. Once your body gets used to the bugs out here and the humidity you'll be fine. :) It's how we scare new people away. "See? We told you it was crummy out here. Go away!"
