Ice Cream for Breakfast

Technically I did have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, but since I'm still in my jammies and have already moved on to the delicious peanut butter swirl ice cream I bought last night, I think my mom would qualify this as eating ice cream for breakfast.  And no, she would not approve.  And yes, it is soooo rich and good that I don't care!

I had a really tiring week of running around and red tape, so I feel like treating myself a little.  I got my brakes fixed, my car inspected, my home insured and made a bunch of phone calls that will hopefully result in me getting new plates for my car this week.  I thought I had everything I needed when I went down to the insurance place in person, but the delay is actually a good thing - if I can get my driving history faxed over from my old insurance company, I'll save a couple hundred bucks with the new company.  Definitely worth a few phone calls!

I had to turn in my old driver's license, so of course I got all dolled up to have my picture taken for my new license.  I hope it turned out well.  It's such a silly thing, I know.  When I first turned 18 and used to hit the pubs a lot, a popular drinking game was Worst License Picture Buys the Next Round.  I guess old habits die hard!  And since my passport picture turned out dreadful, I need a hot license to balance the whole ID thing out.  *grin*

I bought a new (to me) desk off Craigslist yesterday.  It's very simple with no bells or whistles, but at $25 and within a 15 minute drive, I was sold.  I've been checking the new furniture ads religiously for the last couple of weeks without much luck.  There are lots of good deals if you're looking for a $500 desk going for $150 or if you're willing to drive a minimum of 45 minutes.  Having a van would make things a lot easier too.  I've seen some lovely L-shaped desks and wardrobes that I would've snapped up if I had any way to move them.  My little $25 desk fit nicely in the back seat of my car without having to remove a single screw.  Perfect!

I'd post a pic, but the ad is already deleted, which is actually good; I hate it when Craigslisters don't delete the ads after the item has been sold!

Next up, I need to buy a cell phone and want one that takes really good pictures.  It would be so much easier to add pics to my blog when I can just snap > send it instead of taking a picture with my digital camera, upload it to my computer, resize it, upload it to my website, THEN link it from my blog.

Any recommendations for a good camera phone?

  • Don't know if you got these in the US, but Sony-Ericsson K750 and especially K800 take surprisingly good pictures for a cell phone. Less buggy than the Nokias, too. :-)
As with any small-sensor camera, they need good lighting, but these two are the best I've seen for cell cameras.

  • I was really excited about getting a camera phone until I found out that I *have* to have a sprint web account thingy to send the photos to an email account; there is no way of downloading them directly from the phone. I don't know if all phones are like that or if it depends on your provider or WHAT but it sucked for me since I didn't want to spend $15 a month for the phone's web access.

  • I just did a search on the Sony and it does get some fantastic reviews. I had a camera phone (Motorola V220) for a little while, but the camera took the most horrific pics. I'm not the most photogenic person, but this was ridiculous! I would take 15 to 20 shots at all different angles trying to get one where I didn't look totally deformed. After I broke it I didn't bother getting a new one. Too much money for something I really only need for emergencies.

Trixie, thanks for the heads up. The Motorola one could download the pics right to my computer or to my Rogers account for free. I just assumed all phones did that, so good tip to watch out for.
