I Shot Myself

I just added a new photo gallery for members of Kris Madison.com after 3 solid nights of editing. I started off with over 250 photos and whittled them down to a final 61 for the photo set. A lot of them were (and still are, actually) repetitive as I tried to get the *right* angle, expression or pose.

This is sort of a strange gallery. It's self-shot and the remote is visible in most of the images, but that's not the strange part as I do shoot my own pictures most of the time. The strange part is the whole feel of the photos. I wanted to do a practice shoot of sorts. Even though I've been modeling for a few years now, I'm actually horribly un-photogenic. This isn't one of those fishing for compliments sort of remark - the first thing most people say when they meet me in person is that I'm much prettier in real life! For every photo set with 100 pictures in it, there are probably another 100 that hit the trash can. I'm just not a very good model. This is one of the main reasons I rarely shoot with other photographers. If I can't have complete control over the editing process, I know that there will be a ton of fugly pics that make their way onto the interweb. Once I'm a better model (and have perfect skin AND have a perfect body), I'll feel comfortable shooting with all sorts of photographers and will get the benefit of new interesting photo sets shot with a totally different eye. I'm still waiting for that day. =)

So for this set, I was trying to practice and be more aware of what angles look good, what poses are most attractive and most importantly, how to smile without looking like a complete dork! The problem is that I don't seem to retain this information. I can spend hours editing photos, tossing the fugly ones and won't remember what to do the next time I'm in front of the camera to re-create the pretty pics. I have zero face-body coordination. As I continued playing with different poses and kept creating ugly and uglier pictures, I decided to just run with it. I tried all sorts of weird, artsy, different poses and though most aren't what you would usually see on a glam type of site, I think they turned out kind of cool. I'm looking forward to my next practice session to see what I come up with!

  • From what I can see from your pictures (sadly not having had the pleasure of seeing you in real life), you DO have the perfect body, Kris! In my opinion, you really don't need to go for more definition and muscle, like the fitness post the other day hinted at. There is really NOTHING to improve! (Well, personally, if I may be so blunt, I prefer slightly smaller boobs, but that's all. :)) You have the most wonderfully fantastic behind of all the interweb, lovely legs and feet, a beautiful face with wonderful eyes and a great smile! :-) You may not be fishing for it, but you deserve to hear it! :-)

  • Thanks! I should really post some of my awful blooper type pics just to prove I'm not totally out to lunch.

So far so good with staying dry. It does rain a lot, but it's not like it rains ALL day. I can handle a little sprinkle here & there if that means the daffodils are out & the grass is green!
