Settling In...

Since moving into my new home, I've been burning up my bank card. So far I've bought:

a) a new bed & mattress
b) a big ass LCD TV
c) a thick kitchen table made of real wood (not particle board!)

Which one of those things doesn't belong? I need a place to sleep & a place to eat. I probably could've held off on the TV until I got the rest of the necessities taken care of though. Things like, you know, a desk so I have somewhere to work would be nice. I could work from the kitchen table, but that means cables everywhere & I tend to trip over things that are actually in place, so...yeah. Bad idea.

My #1 need is some kind of storage unit/shelves/wardrobe. I have so many pairs of shoes & clothes to wear for photo shoots & computer crap that a normal closet just doesn't cut it. My office looks like a panty bomb went off in there as I ripped open every single box & rooted through stuff looking for the white booty shorts I wore for my St.Paddy's day pictures. I really need to get that space organized so I can get back to work. And it would be nice to de-pornify my place should my landlord pop over. =)

The TV was definitely a splurge. I was just shopping around comparing prices on microwaves when I wandered into the TV aisle at Fry's (more like the TV rays sucked me in). I love that store. I didn't buy a microwave but I did buy the new Microsoft mouse that I'd been coveted since I read about the ergonomic design months ago before the thing even came out. And I bought a big ass TV. Once I saw the quality, the thin flat panel of love could not be resisted. I've been lugging around a 36" Toshiba Cinema Series tube for the last 7 years. It was a beautiful TV & one of the early adopters of HDTV. But that fucker was heavy! I couldn't stomach moving it again, so I sold it back in Alberta & arrived here TV-less.

My budget doesn't really allow for buying a new TV right away. I didn't think that would be a big deal since I've got so much stuff to do any way. Surely I could wait & buy a TV in a month or so, right? Something about curling up & watching TV, especially the same old shows that you've watched for years, means "home" to me. The emotional response of wanting my new strange abode to feel like home combined with the tingle in my pants that those 42 inches of screen gave me (at a bargain price too!) were too much for me.

So I have a TV. I don't have any hockey to watch (you're dead to me, Edmonton Oilers!), but I do have a new favorite show - the Pussycat Dolls. It's not the kind of riveting show you sit down & focus on, but seeing those wannabe Pussycats shaking their collective booty on my screen makes every extra inch worth it. Ahhhhh!

Now I just need to buy a rain jacket & I'll be all set. Priorities, schmiorities!

  • I can't get on the Canucks bandwagon. In Canada it gets really annoying the way the entire country is only comprised of 2 cities - Toronto or Vancouver when it comes to sports. When it comes to politics, only the French seem to matter. I'm a resentful prairie girl at heart!

I know what you mean about the two cities. Vancover is nice but I really liked Victoria, and as for Toronto well i grew up in Buffalo so give me St Cahthrines. Will go for Tim horten over Starbucks.
So who you looking for in the play off? I thinking I might see a cup in Buffalo this year. Like whacthing the speed of the game now.
