Indecision
One of my worst habits is getting paralyzed by indecision. I get stuck in the research phase & never get out of it. Moving to a new city has really shone a spotlight on this nasty trait of mine. For example, my brakes need to be fixed. I don't want to get ripped off just because I'm a woman & don't want to be sold extra stuff I don't need. I have no idea which mechanics are reputable & having out of state plates plus boobs makes the search for a trustworthy mechanic even tougher. But my brakes are starting to squeal & after doing much research (!) I know that the longer I continue to drive on them the worse off they'll be. By the time I finally decide on a mechanic, the common scam of telling me I need new rotors when I just need new pads may actually be the truth!
The gym is another thing. I was planning to just go with Fitness World since there's one close to my apartment. After doing some Googling, there are tons of Fitness World rants from people who can't get out of their contracts even after they've moved miles away from any of their locations. I really don't want to do a 2 year contract, though it appears to be the only way gyms make their memberships affordable.
Close to home is a big factor in choosing a new gym, but if the place is always packed & I have to wait to use the machines I like, I know I'll use that as an excuse not to go. I want some place kind of mellow, without a ton of meathead steroid users running around & grunting loudly as they lift weights. I don't want a bunch of spandex-clad bimbos bouncing around either who have more interest in texting (UR HOT!) on their cell phones than actually working out, but I can't go sooo community gym-style that *I* become the spandex-clad bimbo. I train hard! I also wear spandex yoga pants & have big bouncy boobs. My perfect gym needs a dash of the Globo Gym-ness if I'm going to fit in! :)
It would be really cool to find a gym where real fitness models train. I'd love to work out alongside beautiful women, like Monica Brant, who train hard for competitions not just the bar scene. That would be inspiring!
In the meantime, I think I'll keep researching. And go to Starbucks. And maybe get some chocolate too. =)
